First-Draft Proof of Concept — Internal Team Review Only

Placeholder page

Youth Voice

Youth voice should shape the site’s priorities, language, tools, and review process—not simply decorate the page.

Placeholder only. This page does not include direct youth quotations, names, images, clips, identifying details, or invitations to submit private stories. Lisa/ACTION review and permission/compensation decisions are required before public use.

Youth voice should shape the work

Fostering Potential is being designed around questions young people and alumni have raised about school continuity, relationships, credits, transportation, clear explanations, and having a meaningful voice in decisions that affect them.

Youth voice should influence what the site prioritizes, how information is explained, which tools are built, and how drafts are reviewed. It should not appear only as decoration or as an isolated quotation.

What youth voice changes

Design priorities

The site should begin with practical problems, use plain language, avoid institutional assumptions, and make next steps visible.

Review process

Youth and alumni reviewers should be able to flag language that feels inaccurate, extractive, stigmatizing, or difficult to use.

Privacy and agency

Direct stories, quotes, images, and clips require clear proposed-use, permission, compensation, and public-use records.

How this page will be developed

  1. Begin with theme-level material and clearly labeled placeholders.
  2. Ask Lisa/ACTION which themes, assets, and review process are appropriate.
  3. Confirm whether each direct item may be quoted, clipped, named, pictured, adapted, or published.
  4. Discuss compensation and the young person’s ability to revise or decline use.
  5. Keep source records and public-copy fields separate so identifying information does not travel into page code.

Start with practical resources

These routes provide general information. They do not ask youth to disclose private case information.

A note about sharing stories

Fostering Potential will not use an open website form to request confidential youth stories. Any future review or co-design process should be created with Lisa/ACTION, use clear consent and compensation practices, and explain who will see the material.

Please do not submit confidential student, school, child welfare, medical, disability, immigration, or legal case information through website forms.

Mandatory Lisa/ACTION review before public or external use.
