From requirement to routine

What this module helps you do

Turn legal and policy requirements into daily routines that protect enrollment, credits, services, transportation, belonging, and reliable follow-through.

A student may arrive with a new address, incomplete records, a changed bus route, unfamiliar adults, or a schedule that does not match the classes they just left. This module focuses on what district and building teams can notice, connect, document, and follow up—without making the student explain the entire system.

Three learning outcomes

After exploring this module, you should be able to:

Connect district coordination to building response

Describe how points of contact, registrars, administrators, counselors, teachers, transportation staff, and service teams can share a clear workflow.

Identify the school actions that cannot drift

Recognize urgent steps involving enrollment, records, credits, transportation, disability services, discipline response, and school belonging.

Document ownership and follow-through

Use a privacy-conscious written action plan so the next step, responsible person, timeline, and follow-up do not depend on one heroic individual.

Optional reflection

Think about your next step

No response is collected. Do not enter private student, school, medical, legal-case, disability, or child-welfare information.

  1. Where would a foster-care enrollment or placement-change notice be routed in your school or district?
  2. Which staff need enough information to act while still protecting the student’s privacy?
  3. What action should be assigned, written down, and checked before the next meeting ends?
